About

Howdy! My name is Kat (she/they), and I am the sole proprietor and artist behind the Salty Cat Collective. I am a mama of two toddlers, a Social Work student, and a small business owner. I handmake leather accessories and apparel, all designed and stamped here in my workshop in the PNW. I am inspired by sass, badass women, emo, and pop culture. In Dolly We Trust, for Stevie We Bow. Amen.

I am a big fan of graphic tees, and so I decided to throw my hat in the ring and start making them myself, but as always, we do things a little differently around here. I carve my graphics onto linoleum and wood blocks, and then spend forever and a day stamping them onto tees, hoodies, bandanas, and whatever else. Why do I do it this way? Wouldn't screen printing be easier/less messy/faster? Shhhhhhh.... I don't know! I'm trying to be a unicorn here, leave me be.

My goal is to spread art, and make my artwork priced accessibly, and print on materials that will last and are made from natural fibers so they don't add more microplastics to our waters. I have always sourced materials as ethically as possible, from using scrap leather, charms made from reclaimed brass, sweatshop free apparel, and ethically sourced gemstones. As of January 2022, our apparel will be 100% ethically manufactured! I am excited to start a new partnership with Known Supply, a sweatshop free and environmentally conscious brand. They are size-inclusive, and committed to fair labor practices. I can't wait to show you the new digs! We will continue using Bella + Canvas for some items, they are also committed to fair trade practices and are sweatshop free.
